On July 27, 2025, a suspect was taken into custody after climbing a fence near the White House and dropping a suspicious package. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on the southeast side of the Treasury Building, adjacent to the White House. U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division officers apprehended the individual, who also had an active warrant from another jurisdiction. The Metropolitan Police Department’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team cleared the package, and the scene was declared safe. The suspect faces charges of unlawful entry and fugitive from justice, and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. No explosive materials were found, and roads in the area have reopened.
